Plucking machines are used in order to produce the largest possible yield with very little manpower.
The top 2-4 leaves and the leaf bud are plucked, together with the plant stalks.
Manual produktion Comparatively high quality teas, only available in limited quantities, are produced by hand.

Green Tea - Japanese Style
Generally, Japanese green tea has slighter more robust leaves and tastes slighter sweeter. Special machines are required in its production. The majority of tea leaves are machine plucked, whereas high quality teas are traditionally manufactured manually.
